About us
Amaca Eco Station started as a wonderful idea during the crisis of 2020 so that visitors from all over the world can enjoy the jungle of Peru. Our aim to protect our environment and together with the local community to create work opportunities and to value the richness of this flora and fauna.
We offer two malocas, or typical constructions, for short and long stays, built with dry leaves as roof and local legal wood, with the comfort of electricity, wifi, working area, kitchen, and all the facilities you need.
We are pleased to invite you to fully participate in this adventure where you can also have a bike ride exploring lagoons and discovering new sceneries, hike a natural trail learning and observing the flora and fauna, and take a moment in our special maloca for ceremonies, meditation, exercise and/or just relax in our hammocks.
Our Surroundings
- We are located only 14kms from the airport and 23kms from the city of Iquitos. Nearby only 8kms from the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve, within the buffer zone where you can observe characteristic lagoons, palms and thin high trees.
- You can visit the CREA, or Centro de Rescate Amazónico, a rescue center located only 400m from our place. In this visit you will learn how they protect manatees and other fauna such as monkeys, macaws and others.
- There is a shop only 10-minute walk where you can find all the basics you need such as fruits, vegetables, groceries, drinks, etc. You can also use our bikes for this shopping.
- You can find two restaurants with comfortable facilities and delicious typical food just 500m from our place. One offers swimming pools and large gardens and the other has a very local taste.
Our History
- Benjamin & Cynthia crossed paths in this right location and immediately started to work together in this project. Both have lots of ideas and complement each other very well. They have been enjoying the privilege of living in the middle of the jungle and want to share this with all their guests. They are constantly improving Amaca Eco Station.
- Cynthia is Peruvian and after high school she moved to the United States to study and work in California. When she returned, she started working in tourism since 1997, traveling all over South America and visiting every corner of Peru to design the best itineraries and give the best advices for travelers around the world. In 2009, she has begun her own project, “Lima Mentor”, a tour operator specializing in promoting the attractions in the city of Lima, highlighting the culture and gastronomy. Now she is in love with AMACA Project in Iquitos.
- Benjamin is French and worked in Bakery/Pastry there until his 25, then started to Travel around the world to learn and discover different way of living and culture. He did work visa in Australia and New Zealand as a baker and visited various countries of south east Asia. In 2020 he started a road trip in South America and stop in Iquitos to learn about medicinal plants. It turned out that he changed his plan due to the global events and started to work on his new vision of living in a sustainable way for the environment respecting the nature and communities that are living here. Now he is in AMACA Project but also found Peace&Love.
